Many of my readers and followers asked me to post an honest Chatfromhome review as they wonder whether it is a legit chat job or another scam. I worked for this company when I was looking for a full-time job from home. Now, I’d like to share how it works with ChatFromHome and outline what you need to know before signing up.
What is ChatFromHomeBase?
The ChatFromHome company is mainly focused on the UK and Australian markets. They offer remote positions for chat operators, who then work as independent contractors. You apply to the official https://chat-from-home.com/ website, and after you sign up, you have to complete the onboarding training (normally via Teams or Skype).
The main focus of their services is on offering chat support to various clients, but mostly to adult chat websites. So, in order to work for them, you have to be 18+ (ID verification is guaranteed) and willing to engage in adult-themed chats. Therefore, this company is suitable mostly for people who are open-minded and don’t judge such jobs. And this is something I want to emphasise right at the beginning.
You WILL chat with adults about their life, family, hobbies, dreams and yes, even sexual preferences 99% of the time. This includes fantasy roleplay and other adult content discussions. I will be honest; I don’t have a stomach for it, but if you don’t mind sitting home, typing a few words and getting paid for it, I say go for it!
Compensation and Payment
Another point I want to discuss right from the top is the pay. You will be paid for every single chat that you reply to, and you have to fulfil the minimum number of required chats per week (currently 50). These are the current rates for all chat operators:
As you can see, once you earn a certain amount, you will have to pay a small admin fee (it’s because of the transaction fees as they operate globally). You can check weekly how much you have earned and your progress towards your pay.
The company will send you an invoice once you have earned the required amount. It’s not time-limited, meaning that the amount you earn depends entirely on you. The following pictures are not mine, but this is what your invoices portal looks like:
It’s fairly simple; you will start at the lowest possible amount, which is $0.03 per chat. After that, you gradually progress to higher payouts. But please understand, this is not something that can replace your full-time job. It’s great for earning an extra $50-$100 per month (the most realistic outcome) that you can use as spare money. But to be honest, it won’t make you rich.
What the Work Was Like: Schedule, Tasks, and Expectations
Chatfromhome is a super flexible company. You log in and work any time and any day, and from any location you choose. They have the minimal requirements for chats per week, but they won’t pressure you into anything. Some days your chat station will be blowing up with back-to-back chats, but some days you will barely have one message coming in.
When it comes to the nature of your job, like I mentioned before, you have to be open-minded and have a zoning-out attitude. That means you won’t take anything personally. You are role-playing after all. But keep in mind, you are chatting with real people, so having empathy is important.
Some of the clients are simply lonely, and they want to chat with someone. But some are looking for “more”. You need to have a stomach for it and be able to handle such conversations. If you can’t, which is perfectly fine, please consider other platforms.
My Personal Experience Working for Chatfromhome: Pros, Cons and Proof of Pay
Chatfromhome is an alternative to The Chat Shop, Cloudworkers, or TexKings. I found this company after The Chat Shop company closed down, and I wanted to carry on working as a chat operator from home. But I was not happy about the nature of the job.
So, once again, I have to repeat myself – if you find it gross or uncomfortable to chat with grown adults about topics that might be taboo for you, please move on and look for other alternatives. There are companies such as Remotely4U, Concentrix, Amazon and Apple, and they regularly post new openings for chat operators.
Chatfromhome is NOT a scam. They are a legit company, and they actually pay for your time. Here is proof of payment I received from them:
Let’s summarise the pros and cons now. What you can find appealing is the flexible work schedule and easy tasks; all you have to do is reply to conversations, log in information and keep the chat entertaining and personal. You will also get paid weekly after you earn the amount required for payout. The cons are low pay rates and the fact that you are exposed to adult content.
Final Thoughts
Chatfromhome is ideal for people who need some extra pocket money to spend on entertainment, food, makeup or gaming. It is not something that will replace your full-time job or make you rich. It lasted only for a week for me, and then I decided to pursue other options.
I understand if you are in a desperate position and you need every dollar, but please keep in mind what it might cost you in return. Some people have an issue with the integrity and exploration. And some check it out, and it turns their stomach upside down or resets their moral compass. Whatever your situation is, there are always other solutions.
But if you decide to work for this company, no one will blame or judge you. It is a job after all; it might pay your bills, debts or for a good time.
