Remote Jobs for Moms in 2025 (Part 2)

Because You Want to Hear the Real Deal…

In my previous post, I described the most common experience with searching for remote jobs for moms. I did my best to explain where people normally start and how quickly it becomes a disappointment. My goal is to protect you from all the scammers and evil people lurking on hiring websites. They target desperate people…and moms who desire a job from home.

But also to show you that there is a legitimate way to earn money from the comfort of your home. In this blog post, you will learn about direct opportunities, but I regularly post reviews for each company, explaining whether it’s worth it or not.

If you enjoyed Part 1 of this article, please have a seat. We are going to explore more opportunities.

Remote Jobs for Moms In General…

You might be one of those moms who do not enjoy any particular job or have no clue what stream of income is the right one for them.

Most of the moms I talk to simply want a flexible work-from-home job that pays bills. But also no phone calls, Zoom meetings, or sitting behind the desk all day long. No sales or expensive courses leading nowhere. No toxic environment and a controlling boss who monitors even bathroom breaks.

So, for moms who just found themselves in this description, these are the specific jobs that I highly recommend.

  1. Administrative Specialist
  2. Freelencer
  3. Chat Support
  4. Transcirptions
  5. Translations
  6. E-commerce Specialist
  7. Blogger
  8. Virtual Assistant
  9. Data Entry Jobs

These jobs are perfect for any stay-at-home mom who seeks flexibility and a stress-free lifestyle. They don’t require a big learning curve, and they don’t have unpredictable schedules. Some of these have deadlines (transcriptions, translations or VA), but I believe you can easily manage that.

I found my perfect administrative specialist job only a few months ago, and it perfectly aligns with my lifestyle. It allows me to focus on my blog full-time. These types of jobs are not as rare as you might think.

The key to success is, first of all, to give up on traditional job applications through Indeed, LinkedIn, etc. It’s a waste of time. No one will check your CV; no one will respond. And it will discourage you from looking, believe me.

When it comes to ANY job I ever wanted, I chose a different approach. I wrote down a list of 20+ companies that I was interested in. Then I did some research on their business structure. It’s important to understand whether they will need you or not.

Most of the time, I figured that they were indeed in need of an admin assistant. Or, if it’s convenient to you, visit the place yourself and see what the work dynamics are. Then I would directly address the company with my perfectly polished CV. I always adjust the cover letter for the specific company, but I have templates already at hand.

Many companies don’t want to go through the process of listing jobs (especially if they have to pay fees to the platform), look at thousands of applications, deal with interviews and negotiate terms. That’s why the “doing the job for them” approach works. You come to THEM instead, sell yourself, and give them direct clues on what you have to offer and what THEY can expect.

You don’t need to spend hours applying for a job, sending emails, or polishing your CV. Make sure that you have the most important information, relevant experience, education, certificates and courses there. You can always specify the rest during an interview.

But how do I do this as a stay-at-home mom, you ask? You barely have time for yourself, let alone for all this. Like I said, YOU choose the company. This approach landed me four interviews in a row, and I picked the perfect job afterwards. YOU need to define WHAT your requirements are.

I was surprised by how much you can negotiate when it comes to your work preferences. Don’t be scared to ask. You need to convince them that you can do it, even as a stay-at-home mom. It does not matter if, in reality, your child cries for your attention and clings to you. It does not matter if your laundry is piling up and dinner has to be served.

You can do this! At the moment, I assist the company I work for with emails, customer and client queries, and direct requests from my team leader. I organise my day around my toddler, and somehow I manage everything, every day. You are a superhero, and you have to set your mind to working like that. Now let’s break the list down.

Administrative Specialist

This type of job typically involves responding to emails and queries, booking events and meetings, and organising documents. It’s pretty much anything you would do at the office. Sometimes you will need to print some documents. The other day, you might need to create a spreadsheet.

Don’t worry; these skills can be easily learnt. Google has FREE GOOGLE WORKSPACE courses available for you right away. You will learn how to use basic software such as Google Sheets, Docs, etc. And you will need to learn whatever system the company uses for online meetings, calendar bookings or even clients’ profiles.

To apply for this type of job, I recommend companies such as Belay, Boldly, VaVa Virtual Assistants, Time Etc, Equivity, Zirtual, InboxDone, Elite Virtual Assistants, WorkStaff360, Andela, Automattic, GitLab, Zapier, Buffer, and Toptal.

Please note that some of these companies are available worldwide, while others are only in the U.S. This is just a small list of companies I can think of, but you should find your dream company and apply directly. Why? Because in that case, you will truly enjoy what you do.

I narrowed down five businesses that I already loved and imagined working for. I kept “bothering” them until one day I manifested an administrative role with one of them. For legal reasons, I can’t disclose who it is directly (but the initials are LP!).

Freelancer, Chat support agent, VA, E-commerce specialist…

All these jobs require a similar way of hunting to the administrator. For most of these, you already have the skills needed, and the rest you can learn as you go.

If you choose to be a freelancer, it might be slightly busier, and you will need to chase your own projects and money. If you don’t wish to do that, you can sign up with companies that already work with freelancers and throw gigs at them directly. But it can get very competitive out there.

It depends on your additional skills and what you can offer to your clients. Choose a specific niche you excel in (writing, software development, web design, editing, etc.) and place offers on Fiverr (the only one you don’t pay for!). I would avoid Upwork, PeoplePerHour and Freelance.com, as you have to pay to secure gigs, and you won’t even make that money back!

In the best-case scenario, you will pick your favourite companies and ask if they work with freelancers and if they would mind you working from home. That’s what I used to do, and you would be surprised how obedient those companies were.

I picked up as many projects as I could handle in a month and worked on them mostly during the evening, when my son went to sleep. You have to make sure that you have the time, capacity and skills to complete the project. Otherwise, you will lose a lot of money and sleep over this.

Tip: Look for companies called ContentFly, Toggl, Hotjar, and Motherly (freelance jobs).

For Chat Support roles, there are ModSquad (my favourite!), SiteStaff Chat, LiveWorld, and Outplex. It’s also worth regularly checking Concentrix, Amazon, Apple and Foundever (before Sitel). Typically, you will use the company system, which you have to install, and other equipment they provide. Your daily work will be answering chats as quickly as possible.

Most of these companies pay per hour, but some might pay per chat. It’s therefore best if you are a fast typist, with great grammar and high focus. I urge you to avoid companies that offer adult chat options only and pay peanuts!

Some other companies for this particular role are OneSupport, Vetcove, RYSE Inc., MetLife, PerfectServe, Connexus Resource Group, Luggage Forward, Better Fragrances, ScriptPro LLC, Clothing World LLC, KI Insurance LLC, and TrackStat.org.

This type of job is very straightforward, and you will need a good Internet connection and to pass the test. It depends on the company’s requirements for typing speed and the nature of chats (you might spend more time on customer service). But be prepared to sit behind your desk for hours and have a very repetitive routine.

An e-commerce specialist typically works with a company to maintain their e-shop or stock. It might be anything from answering customers’ queries, managing orders, updating the store and checking products. It can also involve communication with suppliers and troubleshooting glitches.

I used to manage Shopify and WordPress stores, and for me, it was a lot of fun. You need to learn first how the particular software works so you can easily navigate through it. One of the stores I was managing was super busy, and it was important to pay attention to details. So, ideally, you work this job with minimal distractions.

A nice bonus was the employee discount on products and flexible working hours. It was mostly busy in the morning and afternoon, so I could breathe a little bit midday. Helping the company with social media aspects was sometimes required as well. But those product launches were very exciting!

The top companies I recommend are Shopify, The Good, Brandetize, Klaviyo, CloudPeeps, and Recharge Payments. I also looked on Etsy for small business owners and asked them directly if they needed help with managing their own website store. Check your favourite brand and see if they offer similar roles.

Lastly, I want to talk about virtual assistant jobs. The pay for these might be based on the project (you are assisting only with that particular project) or hourly, if you are a regular employee. The contracts might be different; some offer positions for only 3 months, some up to two years, but rarely permanently.

That does not mean you can’t be a full-time VA; it only means that the job circles around a CEO’s/client’s needs. As the title explains, you will be an assistant to an individual or a whole team of people. I know some VAs who only schedule calendars and coordinate events.

There are some companies that are already established on the job market with a history of success, such as Belay, Time Etc.., Boldly (formerly Worldwide101), VaVa Virtual Assistants, and Zirtual. Others that are worth trying are Magic, Ossisto, Workello, JobRack and 24/7 Virtual Assistant.

You can also reach out directly to coaches, bloggers, podcasters or real estate companies. Like I mentioned before, many businesses don’t want the headache of listing jobs, but that does not mean they don’t exist. I was a virtual assistant to a guy who owns a small Shopify store, and I found him via a Facebook group. It’s a good idea to join those groups and peek in.

Transcriptions and Translations

One of the easiest and quickest ways to earn money while sitting at home was always doing transcription for me. I used to do this when I was still in high school, and if it weren’t for my busy schedule, I would still go for it today.

Whether you work as a freelancer or you sign up with a company, the workflow is usually the same. You get a project or an order to fulfil and complete within a certain time frame. The company or clients send you the requested instructions and the file they need to translate or transcribe.

With translations, it’s super easy, as the client already knows what languages you speak. They explain the length of the words they need, if they want slang or a more professional-looking document, etc. If you follow their instructions and if you are great with words in general, then you won’t struggle at all.

Top companies to work with as a translator are Gengo, Unbabel, Proz, Smartcat, Translated.net, LanguageLine Solutions, One Hour Translation (OHT), TextMaster and VerbalizeIt. Also, consider building a profile on TranslatorsCafe (such a great community!).

Personally, I enjoyed transcriptions more, and the onboarding process wasn’t that bad. I worked for a company called TranscribeMe. The company will send you an audio file, and you also have the instructions and requirements at hand. Those are also part of the onboarding process, and you need to learn them in advance, before actually working.

You will then need to transcribe the audio file correctly. Some files are longer, and it will take you more time to finish them. Some are clear to understand, and the job is done quickly. Many people complain that it’s not worth it, but if you prefer getting paid by project, you will enjoy it. As you learn and practise, and get more projects done, you will get faster too. And that means more money in your pocket.

At some point, I was working on subtitles for YouTubers, and that was a lot of fun. Other times, I worked on court audio files, and it took me longer. But overall, the experience was good, and I made around £300 per month (nice money for a full-time student!). I recommend companies like Rev, CastingWords, Way With Words, Daily Transcription, and Go-Transcribe.

Remote Jobs for Creative Moms

Just because you became a mom and you are looking to start working again, you don’t have to give up on your hobbies. Quite the opposite; turn your hobbies into a small business. Highly creative moms can thrive financially while they work at home.

  1. Full-time blogger
  2. Digital products designer
  3. Graphic designer
  4. Freelance writer
  5. Video editor
  6. Handmade products seller
  7. YouTuber
  8. Social media manager

These are not exactly jobs in the traditional sense, but they surely are a lot of work. You might be crunching your nose while reading the list, but let me dive deeper. I used to be sceptical about creating any sort of content from home and expecting a financial reward from it. Until I tried blogging and content creation myself and made my first money out of it.

If you would like to learn more about my journey, read the “How to Start a Blog and Make Money in 2025” post. I explained all the necessary steps you need to take, and I set realistic expectations. But for now, let’s talk about the other options.

Graphic design is a very common choice for moms who love drawing, sketching, or even digital design in any software. Most of the time, you will hear about selling templates on Etsy, but let me tell you that the boat sailed a long time ago. The market is oversaturated because of the AI “artists”. The best way is to sell your designs directly on your own website or to clients and companies.

The same goes for being a freelance writer, editor or YouTuber. You need to be able to find the time to sell yourself and create content that separates you from other creators. And I KNOW it’s a lot of work, especially when your schedule is already packed. Many moms, however, simply grab a camera and film their daily life as they go. It can be anything from cleaning videos to organising a closet or coming up with new crafts and games for toddlers.

If you can sit down and think of anything you enjoy watching, write five ideas that you can imagine yourself creating, and then you are on the right track. I dread starting every single day. But once the filming, editing and writing are done, I feel so good about myself. And when you see the first financial reward after all the research, hashtag placing, sharing and engaging, it’s the best feeling ever!

Can you also imagine yourself running a small business and selling your handmade products? Many moms in my community started from their living room and then made more than £5000 every single month now. I know a lady who bought an embroidery machine and creates her own designs for children’s clothes. She then actually creates the product and sells it for roughly £29 each. Then I know one mom who started by selling pens. Yes, simply pens for writing. She now has a great stationery shop.

You don’t have to, however, go through the whole setting up your store via another company or your own website and marketing yourself. Many moms opt for filming their creations only, and they upload these videos on TikTok or YouTube. Both companies pay for a certain number of views and followers, and although it might seem like slow growth, it pays off long term. A lady I have known for over 6 years lives off of her YouTube channel for nearly a decade now, and all she does is creative content.

If you don’t like the idea of putting yourself out there, but you enjoy social media, consider becoming a social media manager. Many creators don’t have the time to engage with viewers or post on Instagram or Facebook, and they need that one person managing their socials. Same with large Twitch creators, who need to upload videos to TikTok or YouTube, but they are too lazy to do so.

How do you start such jobs? For graphic design or digital product design, I recommend Fiverr, DesignCrowd, 99designs, Design Bundles, Payhip, Creative Market or Etsy. You can sell your artwork directly or fulfil custom orders from customers and clients. Other platforms where to sell your digital or handmade products are Folksy (UK-based), Shopify (set up your own store), Amazon, or Toptal (advanced).

For any sort of writing (copywriting, content, business…), try ProBlogger Jobs Board, Contently, Writer or WriterAccess. Or simply, start your own writing company and offer writing blog posts, advertisements, or creative and business writing. Video editing platforms that I recommend are Veed Studio, We Are Video Makers FB group, or Fiverr. And for the social media management, Belay, We Work Remotely or approaching creators directly.

💎 Hidden Gem Companies: Contra, Workello, Clevertech, Superpath, We Are Rosie, Braintrust, CloudPeeps, Remotive, PowertoFly, and HireMyMom.

Remote Jobs for Problem-solving Moms…

Lastly, let’s talk about jobs for tech-savvy moms, enjoy solving problems and learning and like challenges.

  1. Accountant specialist
  2. Bookkeeper
  3. Online tutoring
  4. Data entry (or analysis)
  5. IT support
  6. Cybersecurity

These jobs are preferably for someone who already works in the field and has experience. Companies hiring specialists in the IT world often let them work from home full-time. But I know many moms who did a course for accounting or bookkeeping during their maternity leave, and they started to work from home right away.

Similar to administrative support, these roles don’t require your presence on-site. Tutoring is also something you don’t need qualifications for. I used to teach English from home with a company called Meet’n’learn. You sign up with the platform, create your profile, set up your own schedule and rates and wait for students to book with you. The higher the ratings you get, the better your chances of getting a lot of bookings.

Other tutoring companies I recommend are Preply, Cambly, Tutor.com (US) or GoStudent (Europe). For accountant specialists/bookkeepers, there are Bench Accounting, Belay, Intuit (QuickBooks), and AccountingDepartment.com. Data entry jobs are less common, but it’s a good idea to check Appen, Cactus Communications or TELUS International now and then.

Final Thoughts

Hunting for your perfect remote job might seem like an impossible, endless task. But don’t despair; there ARE plenty of remote jobs available for moms. For some, you need additional skills, courses or knowledge, but I guarantee you I had none of that prior to getting my dream job from home.

I leveraged the skills and knowledge I already had, and only AFTER I got the job did I complete extra courses and training. I know this all can seem very generic to you, and you might still be confused about where to start. If you found yourself at a crossroads, feel free to comment below or join my TikTok community. I talk to so many people every week, and we created this special community where we help each other.

All these jobs and solutions I mentioned are well-established ideas, but I regularly review companies and job offers to keep my readers updated on the newest opportunities and to advise better.
