Top Remote Jobs for Moms in 2025 (Part 1)

Flexible Work from Home is a Myth…

Are you a stay-at-home mom looking for remote jobs for moms in 2025? Have you looked everywhere and found nothing?

Do you keep scrolling through Indeed, LinkedIn or Facebook groups daily, but all it brings you is frustration? I get you!

I tried and reviewed 100+ sites offering work from home. Here is what works and what does not…

The reality of Remote jobs for moms in 2025

Many moms face this dilemma, especially now in 2025. It feels like an impossible task. We are trying to earn money from home while we raise our little ones.

I know moms who have to give up on raising their babies/toddlers just to get back to work. Then, I also know moms who chose to spend that precious time with their children. But they had to give up their jobs.

At the moment, I work as an administrative specialist from the comfort of my home. In my spare time, I focus on my small blog.

This job allows me to take care of my toddler and the household. I can still run my errands and earn decent money to pay my bills and live comfortably. Though I consider myself a low-maintenance person.

A lot of moms ask me weekly. How come I get to sit at home, but I never seem to lack anything I need? And too many of them complain to me about their own difficult situation, seeking support and guidance.

It’s Not That Simple Though…

It should be easier, right? We should be able to enjoy motherhood without worrying too much about paying bills and contributing to the household income.

But many of us are forced to look for alternative solutions to our stay-at-home situation. Ideally, we would have a work-from-home kind of job that we can do around our children.

Have a nice pay cheque, the flexibility to still manage to feed them, and take them to the park. And play with them; do all the laundry, cooking and cleaning.

How My Remote Job Hunt Started…

I went through so many options, losing my sleep and mind over this inconvenient puzzle and feeling of being stuck. I’ve tried not hundreds, but thousands of remote or flexible jobs between the years 2022 and 2025. I was still working from home when I was pregnant in 2022. My son was born in 2023. I took a year’s break to take care of him.

He was two years old when I started to feel like it was time to work again. But there was a problem…he was not ready for the nursery.

And we just moved from the UK to Slovakia (my homeland), where remote jobs are not common. I was truly stuck.

ChatGPT- My saviour!

I used ChatGPT to search for possible jobs from home. But the offers were very generic, and some of them did not make any sense. I started to notice that 99% of the offers were either misleading or scams.

I tried some of the survey sites (Swagbucks, InboxDollars, YouGov, Toluna, etc.). But unless you want to completely spam your personal email with virus-laden chatty emails, I don’t recommend it.

Not to mention, they sell your personal information to 3rd party sites. Did I make any money with them? Let me see… I made exactly £4.03, and they never paid me because the minimum amount was not reached. Yeah, never again!

The Truth about Survey Sites…

Those sites are normally the easiest go-to solution. Then I tried to be a tester. There are sites such as UserTesting, Tester Work, uTest, Testbirds, Userlytics, Ferpection, and Pinecone Research.

Those offer money in exchange for testing products or services. But like the survey websites, these companies also sell your personal data and spam your email. The pay is a bit better, but you don’t get many offers.

Most of them are also a lot of work. Or you have to sit down in front of a camera and do the review in a video format. Or you have to spend 40+ minutes filling in some surveys. I made around £12, and I got paid this time via my PayPal account. After that, I gave up; it was too much work for such low pay, plus I stopped getting more offers.

When Nothing Seemed to Work…

Naturally, I started to think about a different approach. I needed something that would earn at least a part-time income and be super flexible at the same time. So I started my extensive research.

I started to write down names of job positions, companies and websites. Anything associated with the term “remote work” or “work from home”. This is when I easily got to 1203 options for working from home. Which is also the reason why I feel so confident giving advice now to other people.

I went through it all, and now I offer insight on all the companies I either applied for, had an interview with or actually managed to work for. And I do this to save you, my readers, the time and energy when it comes to hunting for the perfect work-from-home job.

Back to the topic… I spoke to a few people who already worked full-time from home, among whom were two moms. They all worked jobs such as administrative support or chat operators. To work as a live chat operator sounded good to me. So I immediately started to apply for such jobs.

But boy was I disappointed when I did not find any. And those I managed to find and apply for offered silly working hours, such as 9 pm to 7 am. How can you possibly work all night, wake up fresh in the morning, and start the day over again? Impossible!

My First Taste of Chat Operators Jobs…

So I thought… I kept looking for part-time chat support jobs, and I managed to land one. It was for a company called Chatfromhomebase. The process of applying and training was rarely quick, and you can find the full step-by-step guide in this blog post, “Chat-from-home-base Job: My Honest Review”. I found this job via Google, and it’s this particular one: https://chat-from-home.com/ref/GB2592724. When you register, your hopes are high that you have finally found a great and flexible chat operator remote opportunity. The staff are very kind, and the training is done via Skype or Teams. But it took me exactly 2 days to realise what the job is about…you are an operator on adult chat.

Back when I joined them, you had to write every single message. Nowadays, they use AI to write the message for you. So you get paid roughly $0.03 for just reading it and clicking on the send button. Sometimes you have to modify it to match the conversation. As you progress, you get paid more. It depends on how many messages you send every month. The minimum is 50 messages per week. For some people, this might be a perfect side hustle; you are on your PC/laptop already anyway, so you get paid for extra clicking.

Yes, it sounds horrifying. But the truth is, there are some people out there who don’t care and don’t mind doing it. Others, like me, with high morals, who felt bad about misleading the paying customers and at the same time being grossed out about the nature of the messaging service, simply gave up right away. You get a small amount of money for every message, and you don’t need to sign up for any schedule. You log in when it’s convenient to you.

But like I said, the pay was too low and the nature of the job was too much for my stomach. There are other companies, such as Cloudworkers, that pay higher fees and offer the same type of job, adult chat or erotic chat. It’s up to you if you can process it and if you are only after the money. If you think you can do such a “job”, then I say go for it. Even an extra £50 a month might help.

Not Giving Up on Being the Chat Operator…

After this fiasco, I was desperate to look elsewhere, and I finally found a great chat support job via The Chat Shop company. Unfortunately, this company no longer exists, but it was lovely working for them. It was an actual 9-to-5 chat support role, and although it was quite busy, I enjoyed it so much. There are many other companies, such as ModSquad, LivePerson, SiteStaff Chat, Concentrix, Arise, and Working Solutions. These companies hire people from time to time, so you have to keep checking their websites (super annoying if you ask me!). But after nearly five months of constant checking, I managed to find a job with Concentrix.

Unfortunately, I had to give up that job because we decided to move from the UK around that time, and the job required being a resident in England. As I was packing all my belongings and furniture, preparing for a new life in my homeland, I realised that it would be very difficult to find a job like that in Slovakia. I had the most offers from the U.S. and then from the UK. Working from home is simply more common in those countries. So I HAD to find another solution.

ChatGPT, Here I come again…

Once again, I found myself drinking a cup of tea and searching through Google and having a chat with ChatGPT during my evenings. As I might have mentioned before, I tried some freelancing work before, as many people swore that it’s the best lifestyle, and I’m my own boss. Websites such as Upwork or Fiverr are normally a good start. But you need to think about the competition in your services. For example, if you do something “basic”, such as administration, there are way too many people competing for gigs. I tried Upwork and PeoplePerHour (both pay-to-win types of things, where you invest your money to appear on top of searches, ha!), Fiverr (I managed to secure two gigs, and people paid!), and Freelancer.com (a complete waste of time!). There are some other sites, such as Toptal, SolidGigs or even Facebook groups, but I never cared to explore them.

However, I did complete some jobs via Airtasker (Australia, the UK, Ireland, and Singapore), which is a great platform for small weekend jobs. It is best for local errands, cleaning, delivery, admin gigs, and IKEA furniture assembly, but you will always find people who simply need to post something or design a small project. You can browse by location, job category and financial reward. I know people who are still actively accepting gigs from there, most of them for cleaning and repairs, and they earn nice money on the side. Have a look for yourself; maybe you will find something that suits you :). Similar sites are TaskRabbit, Rover, Field Agent, Appen, Gigwalk, Wonolo and Steady App.

The Mystery Around Being a Mystery Shopper…

Whilst I’m on it, I would like to mention the Mystery Shopper option as well. I used to do this for a company called Roamler, and I would sort of book a gig (it will show up available in your area), go to the location, and do what the request asked me to do.

It was super easy and fun; I had to take some pictures of the store stock, report if they even had it, and complete a questionnaire. I would then receive a payment for this small gig. I used to do this when I still lived in the UK and my son was just a baby. He used to sleep for at least 3 hours, and since I had to walk around anyway, I used this time to earn some extra money. Some other companies you can try are BeMyEye, Field Agent, Mobee, iSecretShop and MarketForce (EyesOn) / PrestoShopper.

That One Job that Worked Out…

Since my research led me to either freelance work (which I did not want to go for) and some very generic ideas, I started to watch videos on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram, and I was pleasantly surprised that people offered not only ideas for jobs/businesses but many times directly signed me up with companies. But please, be careful and don’t let a scammer take advantage of you. With that being said, I spoke to one mom, who signed me up with a company called Time Etc (try Belay if you live in the U.S.), and I honestly can’t thank her enough. I completed a lovely project as a virtual assistant with them, and I kept in touch with the company for some future projects.

Is Being a VA Worth It?

From there, I did some other jobs as a virtual assistant; however, those jobs were demanding in terms of keeping up with the client’s or CEO’s schedule. I was sitting behind my desk for hours, replying to emails and queries and sometimes having to join some Zoom calls. That was super hard because I had to keep my toddler occupied, and, well, I will be completely honest, most of the time I put on Miss Rachel on YouTube to be able to manage it all. That meant increased screen time for my only two-year-old son and a lack of quality time together. After some time, I could not bear it anymore, and I completely gave up on working as a VA, chat operator and administrative support.

Don’t get me wrong, virtual assistant jobs are great, but they are pretty much what working in the office is, with the slight difference that you can wear slippers instead of heels and have as many coffee breaks as you like. I’m not saying I did not enjoy it; maybe if I were childfree, I would love it. But in my position, I was frustrated, and I felt discouraged from applying for other administrative specialist jobs. I could not figure it out… How on Earth do I keep up with such a demanding type of work, make sure my son is taken care of without having any help, and on top of that, manage my household daily? I was missing something, some important information which would separate me from this messy situation and offer a direct solution.

Maybe A Different Angle?

After about two weeks of despair, I tried another approach. Because I could not find my ideal job, I decided that maybe I should just create one.

Sounds super silly, I know, but in my head I thought, if I’m willing to spend my time working for someone else, chasing their dreams and clients, why would I NOT do it for my own thing?

I promise you, dear reader, I’m not about to sell you any course, sign you up for MLM, sell you a fake dream or tell you to open a new Instagram account and post faceless marketing videos. No, I had enough of this “Open Canva, create templates and sell them on Etsy” type of advice. What I want to show you is a raw, unedited (well, maybe a bit for the good SEO of my blog and grammar correctness) version of my journey. Because you might be there right now yourself, where I stood not so long ago, concerned, insecure and worried about my financial situation as a mom.

Let’s get to the final solution together in Part 2 of my Remote Jobs for Moms in 2025. I covered most of the work-from-home offers I tried, and you can find detailed reviews of each company/job in my related articles. These are the most common solutions people go for when they start looking for their ideal flexible and remote money-earning solution. But if you wish to explore some advanced options that might inspire you to greater things, I would like to invite you to carry on reading.
